In my research, I study the expression of territoriality within different technological contexts. For example, I am interested in how territoriality affects the production of collaborative documents within organizations and also in the context of Wikipedia. I have also done some work in framing bluejacking, an anonymous form of messaging through Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones, as an expression of territoriality in everyday public spaces.
I am also interested in the process of reflective design as a tactical intervention with which to question our basic assumptions about technology and culture. To this end, I've critically analyzed mobile social software and its representation of the urban enviroment. With fellow members of CemCom, I've been involved in questioning the implications of the uptake of Situationism and arts-related practices on the field of HCI.
Other ongoing research involves the design of systems in the museum environment that build upon the cultural expectations held by museum visitors but at the same time, moves past the conception of technology in the gallery as a tool for information delivery.
